VIETNAM CRUISE SHORE EXCURSIONS – SAIGON

Most travelers to Vietnam by sea will be offered typically expensive shore excursions aboard ship.  The competition from a Private Vietnam Tour Guide proves to be an excellent value.  First, tour fees by an on-shore private guide will be much less than a shore excursion purchased aboard ship.  Secondly, a tour arranged with a land based private guide can be custom made based on the desires of the traveler(s).

Most sea travelers have consulted travel books and have a list of “must sees” and “like to sees” when they take a cruise.  A Private Vietnam Tour Guide can limit the tour to what the guest wants to see, not what the tour agency has planned with the bottom line in mind. Take advantage of the services of a true Vietnam Destination Specialist.

Shore excursions offered on board often involve stops at shops and other “tourist traps” where the on-shore tour agency gets a commission on all the purchases the travelers make at the stop.  Regular shore excursions also require that you travel with a group made up of people of different temperaments – a chronic complainer can ruin a tour quickly.

A small private tour of 2 to 6 people will have the full attention of the Private Vietnam Tour Guide.  Small groups are usually made up of friends or family that have a lot in common.  They have a tendency to “stay together” and not have one or two people that constantly lag behind or need the special attention of the tour guide.

February 20, 2016 – PRIVATE VIETNAM TOUR GUIDE has provided the following fees for comparison to on-board prices for Vietnam Cruise Shore Excursions from Saigon ports:

CRUISE LINES AND VIETNAMESE PORTS VISITED

Princess, Holland, Silversea, Costa, Royal Caribbean and other well known cruise lines are adding ports in Vietnam to their itineraries.  Halong Bay, DaNang, Nha Trang, Vung Tau and Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) are the ports of call being offered.

Travelers on cruises visiting Vietnam will find that Vietnam Shore Excursions have a lot to offer.  Museums, architecture, restaurants, crafts and the history of Vietnam.

PORTS VISITED BY VIETNAM CRUISES

NHA TRANG

Nha Trang,  Khánh Hòa Province, is a coastal city just north of one of the world’s largest natural harbors – Cam Ranh Bay. It is best known for its beach, one of the most beautiful in the world, and the excellent scuba diving. It is a popular destination for Vietnamese wanting a beach holiday, international travelers and young backpackers taking in the beach party scene. Nha Trang has a lot to offer cruise ship travelers in addition to its beaches.  The sports minded seafarer will find scuba diving, snorkeling, surf sailing, kayaking, mountain-biking and motorbiking when he/she gets on shore.  Those just looking to take a stroll or hire a cyclo will find the Alexandre Yersin Museum, which is known for its displays of scientific history, and the National Oceanographic Museum, are also of interest. Other great day tours include visiting interesting religious sites including Po Ngar Cham Towers and the Long Son Pagoda, or relaxing in the mineral mud at the Thap Bo Hot Spring Center. Consider signing up for a cooking class, which starts with buying the ingredients at the local markets, and finishing up with a terrific meal, or even taking a boat tour to visit the local islands including the VinPearl Resort, which is also accessible by 15 minute cable car ride over the bay. Nah Trang has the alluring combination of being pleasant on the eye, inexpensive and culturally interesting.

HALONG BAY

Halong Bay is very popular because of the fantastic scenery seen from the deck of the cruise ship.  Hanoi draws travelers from all over the world.  Unfortunately, Hanoi is about 3 to 3 1/2 hours from the Halong Bay – one way.  This travel time limits visits to Hanoi to sea travelers that are going to be in Halong Bay for at least 12 hours.  A lot can be seen in Hanoi in 5 hours – the Old Quarter, the One Pillar Pagoda, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature and other attractions draw travelers from all over the world.

There are other attractions for sea travelers to take in that are less distant than Hanoi.  Cat Ba Island is right in Halong Bay.  It has long been popular with travelers wanting to spend more time enjoying Halong Bay.
